Social Change
Concept
- Social change relates to addressing needs and demands of people with change of times.
- Society is dynamic and therefore it keeps on changing and evolving with different existing catalysts within society.
- As per Sir Henry Maine, legislation itself is termed as an element of progressive society.
- Legislation is made by the parliament or the delegated authority and needs to be kept on changing and discussing the arising changes of societies.
- Through the process of amendment and repeal of laws, the changes are brought within legislation.
Different sorts of social changes have been brought with the help of legislation:-
- Sex based discrimination in regard to property and equality perspective.
- End of chaupadi by criminalizing it through Muluki Penal Code 2074.
- Provision of breastfeeding zone.
- Changes in behavior of people in the matter of untouchability.

Social Control
Concept
- Law is enacted with a purpose to control Society for maintaining peace and order.
- It is one of the major functions of legislation.
- It controls the human conduct society with incorporation of provision of sanction or punishment in the legislation.
